This department is typically concerned with teaching, learning and development. We also seek to lead others into greater depths of understanding of the Bible primarily, but also other subjects of importance and relevance to our church and the community in which we are a part.
Education is not about lecturing. It is about sharing in ideas that help people to grow spiritually, intellectually, practically and resourcefully.
This means that we understand that there are many ways in which people learn and many subjects that need to be explored. As such, we are excited about the many forums that are available to us to explore these issues in a way that tries to meet individual needs.
One such forum, is the bible study which takes place Wednesday evenings, bi-weekly from 7-8pm.

(TTG) Is about TEACHING TO GROW
There are many ways that a fellowship can teach using methods that help people to grow. Here are some things to consider when starting TTG ministries.
- Consider The Age and/or Life Stage of the people you are working with. As we all know, people have different needs depending on their life stage. For example, teenagers and pre-teens do not necessarily want to be lectured at, they get enough of that at home, ha, just a joke for you parents out there. Really, it is about being empathetic and understanding what the audience wants or needs. This brings me to my next point.
- Know Your Audience. Consider the collection and mixture of the people you are working with and how they can actually be moved to listen to what it is that you and others want to share. Find a medium of communication that works. It is also prudent to consider more than one method for a single session. As a side note, study a little on learning styles by considering the ways in which you learn.
- Use of language is critical to meeting the needs of your audience. Higher order language can often be inaccessible for many young people. My advice is to use plain English to express your points, whereas, you may use higher order language when working with adult audiences. From gaining experience working with a variety of individuals and groups, you will grow in sensitivity to audiences and be able to gauge what is appropriate for that audience.
- Enjoy Working With People. It is impossible to teach others when you do not emit a spirit of care, love and gentleness. Remember, Jesus is the True Shepherd and His example was that of compassion above everything else. He leads us with compassion, therefore, we must lead with the same compassion. Nobody wants to be bullied, talked down to or condemned. Everyone is looking to learn, develop and share in a caring environment, where there is nurturing.
- Create A Foundation, which is based on the Bible, that is the Word of God. Whatever it is that we consider dealing with within our teaching session, we can find direction in the Bible. However, a note of caution. Teaching is not the same as preaching and we should be careful that people do not lose motivation or zeal when a teaching session turns into an old testament sermon. There is a place for everything in this regard. The Word is essential to our planning and execution, but it must not be used as a way of enforcing our own ideas or doctrinal principles.
Sunday School Begins Again
We are pleased to announce that Sunday School will begin on Sunday 3rd July 2010. Unfortunately, due to limited human resources, we are unable to offer Sunday School for children. We are hopeful that this will change within the short-term and there will be programs for children and youth.
Please be sure to pick up your copy of the lesson each week so that you can read through the lesson beforehand. Studying the lesson beforehand, ensures a fuller participation during the lesson and enhances your experience and that of other students.
